Join Roxy Striar u0026 John Humphrey as they embark on an epic island adventure with DreamWorks Animation’s 2024 family favorite, The Wild Robot. When an advanced android named Roz (voiced by Lupita Nyong’o, Oscar-winner for 12 Years a Slave and Black Panther) washes ashore, she must learn to survive in the wilderness—befriending a playful fox named Fink (Pedro Pascal, The Last of Us, The Mandalorian) and adopting an orphaned gosling, Brightbill (Kit Connor, Heartstopper, Slumber Party), as her own. Alongside Roz’s newfound family are Pinktail the possum mom (Catherine O’Hara, Home Alone, Schitt’s Creek), Longneck the wise elder goose (Bill Nighy, Love Actually, Pirates of the Caribbean), and Thunderbolt the peregrine falcon (Ving Rhames, Mission: Impossible series, Pulp Fiction)—each teaching Roz vital lessons. But when the ruthless retrieval robot Vontra (Stephanie Hsu, Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Marvels) arrives to capture Roz, and the fearsome bear Thorn (Mark Hamill, Star Wars, Batman: The Animated Series) stalks the island, Roz must rely on her ingenuity and the loyalty of her animal friends—like neurotic beaver Paddler (Matt Berry, What We Do in the Shadows, The IT Crowd)—to protect Brightbill and call the island home. Roxy u0026 John break down every standout moment: Roz’s first dawn-lit trek through the forest, the heartwarming microbot experiment that almost goes awry, the breathtaking flight-training sequences, and the tense factory showdown with Vontra. This film is beautiful in every way. I love how Roz gradually sounds more human over time, they don’t hold back on how harsh nature can be, and the scene on the ship where Brightbill tells Roz he loves her and wakes her up always makes me tear up.

This movie is stunning!!! It feels like a softer tone to the Spiderverse movies. A stunning form of animation done in a warmer approach. I love how they use Roz’s learning of languages as the “justification” for talking animals. It allows the movie to heighten the message, and it negates the view point of “it’s animated talking animals, guessing it’s a kids movie”. Sure the movie could be focused towards kids, but the core message in the movie is one for all ages. Yes, while Greg and Tara done a reaction to the movie already. It’s always great to see different view points, reviews, and perspectives.

I haven’t cried this much at a non Pixar movie in years. I’m not a parent, but I was sobbing uncontrollably when I saw Brightbill flying off for his migration. I actually sobbed, not cried, SOBBED, no less than 5 times watching this movie. And it’s an absolute shame that this movie isn’t nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars. Literally the only reason it wasn’t at any major awards show is because there is sadly still a bias against animated films.

Roz, Wall-E, The Iron Giant, and Baymax from Big Hero 6 are perfect examples that true sentient AI doesn’t always go rogue and try to end all organic life. It can be just as pure, good, innocent and beautiful as organic life. Roz is the perfect embodiment of how technology and nature CAN truly coexist. An AI that is not only taught, but learns on its own, that organic life is beautiful and must be preserved, can grow to become more humane than humanity.

I read the book after I watched the movie and the funny thing is I have different feelings about them. I like both the movie and the book, but to me the nuance is different. The movie is more dramatic for sure. I like the book for the variety of the characters (yes, they have way MORE important characters in the book). So yeah, hopefully, for the second movie, they can stick to the book more.

If I had a nickel for every time Pedro Pascal played a disgruntled character who reluctantly helps raise and adopts an orphaned baby, and in the process learns to love, I’d have at least 3 nickels!

Greate to see this video. A year ago, I was broke, in debt, and felt completely lost. I took small steps, stayed consistent, and now I’ve found stability and hope. If you’re struggling please don’t give up. It does get better!

this film shocked the hell out of me, its such a breath of fresh air to not be scared to go deep, with the animals and the food chain, loss, not knowing your identity, but it doesnt matter as long as your around people who love and back you up. i was in tears watching this in cinema, and again watching this reaction and the one before.

This was my biggest surprise of 2024 no doubt. I’m a 25 year old guy with no kids and this movie made me pull my hood up in the theater and ugly cry. The score was truly incredible and will hit a soft spot if you have that love/hate relationship with your mother where you will never be able to pay her back for all the love and support she’s given you but also at times make you want to lose your shit because she almost cares too much. “I Could Use a Boost” makes me tear up every time still to this day

Whoever wrote in the detail of the skunk spraying Fink in the shelter has no idea how intense or long-lasting skunk smell can be, especially in a closed space. Nobody would have been able to BREATHE.

It was kinda funny to see this in the theater with my 10 year old son and listen to all the other parents crying with me as all the kids are like “what’s their deal?” I ended up watching Flow a few weeks ago by myself and it was also amazing and I highly recommend it. This was just a super competitive year. I hope this doesn’t just get discounted or shoved into the “kids movie” category. Wild Robot and Flow were both stunning and compelling movies, they just happened to be animated.

This is such a great movie I love the vibe weaved together between the fun the wholesome and the brutal reality of circle of life. Not a crier but this got me watery in the eye a few times. This movie along with dune part 2 Nosferatu Deadpool and Wolverine were my favorites of the year. It’s absolutely criminal this movie didn’t get even nominated for best picture and mot win best animated but the Oscars is BS so not surprised.
