Ruins the belt dummy. If you look into it timing belts arent ment to be bent smaller than the smallest cog.

nothing better then over streching and damaging a brand new timing belt while turing the engine counter clockwise

A chunk of vacuum hose does the same thing, and its easier on the gear.

Stupidty at its best stretching a belt , its not a stretch fit auxiliary belt, just do the job right first time.!

Why not just install it properly? You set the markings as you go leaving the slack on the tensioner side so that when the tensioner pressures the belt or chain it pulls the markings in. Ive done belts on all makes over 25 years of professional experience doing so.

Thanks bro, I’m going to try this on my R32 Skyline, cars intake cam gear skipped by a tooth and car is running like crap, I’ll update you again if it fixes it

Just took half the life out of that belt. These things dont have stretch for a reason. You just stretched that belt.

Learn how to chase the play into the tensioner side and you wont have to damage the belt to line it up.

I just use a small flat head screw driver for that not a drill bit

People who arent mechanically inclined this would be super bad misinformation and also incredibly confusing. Its also an incredibly dumb way to adjust your timing.

It would be better if the tensioner was loosened so that the timing belt wouldnt be stretched too much.
