"Akora" is not really a German word, but rather an invented word. It probably means "heart" as it is very similar to several words of other languages like "coeur" (French) or "cor" (Latin) which both mean "heart". They are ginger bread with an apple/apricot jelly filling. I have never tried them, but I guess they taste similar to the famous "Dominosteine", which people either totally love or totally hate (like is is the case for liquorice).
I am with you Tami, I would probably like the white hearts the most, too. The speculoos cookies are actually very very cheap (some of the cheapest cookies you can get), but they are very popular during the Christmas season and offered and sold in huge amounts. So you can stock up on them for literally no money and then enjoy them for the whole winter with some nice spiced tea :). I believe in the Netherlands they are sold all around the year, if I am not wrong, because they use the speculoos flavour in a lot of different products.

We all like the speculoos ones best, I like the Akora too. As Kevin said, they grow on you ;-)

I think Akora is just a Bahlsen trade name. Like Nabiscos use of Oreo. Not 100% sure though.
