To answer the question - No. It's a pity - the gameplay is solid, each route had a strong start to the storylines, it was fantastic to see new character support conversations and the music is great. But for any spin off game like this, it is essential for the writing and the story to stay true to its characterisation and it failed miserably.
Just bought this physical for $15.50 at Best Buy.
The same thing is happening to Fire Emblem, that happened to Shining Force. They are taking the turn-based strategy, and replacing it with real time fighting. I know a lot of people like the hack and slash approach, but I think even more of us are disappointed in the direction this series is taking. /i hope that Fire Emblem doesn't forget it roots!
Does it continue stories from any of the previous games?

Being a fire emblem fan can def be hard/overwhelming. I still have to be at OG Three Houses and Warriors 1 before I even think about getting this...and I haven't got Engage yet...shit... I still haven't beaten Fates tbh... I'm grateful for the content tho. For sure.

I think warriors games aren't very great but I love fire emblem. Any idea how much I'll enjoy this? I found warriors games too copy pasta and a little too easy. 3rd person hack n slash games are fun just never liked this game. Also, this games story is not canon correct ?
It's so weird this game was just swept under the rug. I swear I'm a hardcore FE fan and I had never heard of this game until recently - back when it actually released I thought it was just some DLC for the original game, crazy...
I love it that this game had the feature where you could play the demo, then once you finish it, you can then decide to buy the game, and if you do, your progress from the demo can carry over into the main game

i really feel like they should made a strategic hack n slash like the Nioh series for this game that sharpens real combat skills in more life or death situations.
Well time to get this game now! Even tho I haven't finished all of the stories of Three houses yet. Haha. But gosh this looks waaay better than I thought the warriors franchises would be. You can move around not just hack and slash with lot's of cut scenes. They outdid themselves on this. That's why I wanted to see a review before purchasing. Thank you for the honesty review! 🙂

Shez gets so overpowered with just a little bit of grinding. Never let a housemate into battle with a Mastered class.
How do you teleport Shez between camps on the battlefield? I skipped the tutorials too fast lol.

I love this game, definitely worth it even for those like me who didn't know anything about Fire Emblem or the musou / beat'em all style.

The game really disappointed me. There's no s rank, and a lot of the supports don't have support conversations. Spoilers: I played black eagles since I wanted go from my least favorite to favorite. The story was okay, there was some really interesting and cool moments but still felt half baked. At the end of the game instead of marriage you just get a lame uninspired letter by who you give the merc flute. However there's something much worse. The game doesn't even feel finished. After beating the church in the last battle there is still many more battles to be had. The kingdom and alliance is still in tact and we don't even get an explanation of what happens and how the story finishes off. It was very disappointing. I spent 60 dollars on a game that wasn't even finished and didn't have an ending. If there was text afterwards explaining what happened like in three houses on routes where you don't fight twsitd (those who slither in the dark) you still get told that they work together and mange to save fodlen. Here we don't get any of that. The fighting is great and there are other good things about the game. However it's unfinished and I feel the bad things are too major to ignore. At most it's a 4/10 but to me it's more of a 3/10. I'm glad I bought it simply because I love three houses and I'd hate myself for not buying it but it's a big let down.
So disappointing they ruined this arc of the fire emblem series by making it a musou game.
YES ITS WORTH IT. Now you don’t have to watch the rest of the video. Just kidding. I don’t even like games like this, I like simulation and strategy games like Age of Empires or Tropico but usually not fighting games, but you always need at least one button masher on your switch! This reminds me of that Age of Empires and like Mortal Kombat mixed. I wish they had romance in this game though. Ugh, Dimitri and Claude are my boos.
I’m enjoying the game but it’s kinda boring that how a character attacks is based on the class and not the character. One mage is the same as another, one sword fighters combos are the same as another. Maybe it’s cause I play pirate warriors but the majority of characters in that game are unique and feel different to control than another character

Great another dynasty warriors game.....When I first saw dynasty warriors 1 or 2 on ps2, I was impressed with the technical feats and what was achieved for its time and the hardware available....I similarly thought this way when Rome Total War was released around 2005 or so.....Unfortunately both these franchises and spin offs dont really acknowledge this, and it is the same basic tech and programming. What made these games appealing at first was the amount of enemies on screen but there were drawbacks....for example Rome and Empire had 1,000s upon 1,000s of individual models on screen, each group of 20-100ish models only acted as one unit....It wasnt like age of empires, where each unit controlled and acted seperately, but the tradeoff was the 200 population vs the thousands......THe trade off with dynasty warriors, was probably more dumb enemies that wernt very challenging and just stood around. Decades have past, both these franchieses and spinoffs have improved, but the main thing that made them standout(New tech, impressive programming, a new experience) has been ignored mostly with too much emphasis based around these games being amazing around other aspects. Same with GTA, what stoodout at first wasnt the violence or the gore or the crime, it was one of the first 3d games where you could do such a variety of things with such openess......other things were flawed however, the horrible aiming system.....As time has gone on they have improved the world building but have kept the horrible aiming system and the horrible on foot movement pretty pitiful....Even max payne 3's online was destroyed because they implimented an option to have auto aim GTA like multiplayer matches...the majority went with it. You always give GTAs a 10 what do you expect....I think they deserve 9s for what they do achieve, under 5's for morality, but the gameplay outside of driving is rarely focused on. So seeing this as a dynasty game, which by now should have 10,000 units on screen or something else like 1000 player multiplayer if is was improved in right way...Id say it gets a 5 when compared to dynasty warriors 1 or 2....when 20 years of inflation...I mean "what we would expect from initial technical achievments being improved" was actually the focus.
Do battalions fight with you or are they just a stat boost?
I'm afraid to buy a warriors game again for the switch after age of calamity. The fps in that game was literally unplayable, I waited for a patch because obviously it wasn't supposed to run like that. I'll be very cautious buying this until I know it runs well.

The thing that disappointed me about this after playing the demo was that it's gameplay and framework is a huge copy and paste of Hyrule Warriors. Hyrule Warriors is actually kinda chill, but I can't see playing any other Warriors games with that framework. I was always more of a Dynasty Warriors person. I had Dynasty Warriors 3-5 when I was a kid and loved them. They did add great new Fire Emblem additions to the gameplay such as combat arts and stuff, but yeah. I wasn't really feeling it. I've been wanting to get Dynasty Warriors 3 back to start replaying it again lol
Someone PLS tell me I’m just dumb & haven’t seen the settings to adjust the HUD. The giant map & mission objective taking up half the screen while in camp (and during battle) is driving me insane. It was def smaller in Three Houses…

So I have two questions. One: can Shez S-Rank with someone at the end like Byleth can in Three Houses? Two: Is Byleth eventually playable? I don't want to know anything else, just whether they end up playable or not, because I was devastated to know that Byleth wouldn't be the protagonist. They're the namable unit I loved the most out of any other in the entire FE series.

I've been trying not to get hyped for the game because I love three houses but didn't think the musou/warriors combat looked appealing, but the more I watch these reviews, the less that seems to be a problem. I'm definitely gonna try the demo and we'll see from there. I really want the story, but not sure if I'd be able to push myself through combat I didn't enjoy. Please please be good.

I do hope that there’s a way to play as all characters at once or choose between a rooster of all the houses in the game. The announcement trailer really seemed to tease a side to Three Hopes that mirrored how Age of Calamity was a What If scenario to Breath of the Wild, where it asked what if Hyrule had triumphed against Ganon in the original battle 100 years ago. I want to see this take a turn that separates it from Three Houses where we can see these three young leaders, aka the three hopes of Fodlan’s future, working together against the true enemy, Those Who Slither In The Dark. Other than that, hoping Byleth can become a playable character later on since I believe there’s been footage of Sothis and Rhea being playable so who’s to say that the Silent Demon won’t make an appearance.

I haven't played a musou game since Dynasty Warriors 5 on PS2. I loved that game and I have loved FE since Awakening. So I definitely plan on getting his at some point. I really like the character building and support aspects, so that's why the original series will still be superior.
Spent 13 hours in the Demo to unlock everything, and gotta say was a great time. Looking forward to playing tomorrow. Now at 32 hours. ^_^ still pretty fun.

Why is OmegaForce so good at making Warrior games that other companies own and so bad at making Dynasty and Samurai Warriors? They put so much care into respecting Zelda and Persona but when it comes time to make Dynasty and Samurai Warriors, its just an empty game with a bunch of clones and DLC skins.

I'm very confused on why story was emphasized so much. Nobody cares about the story in a Warriors game. The main complaints were a lack of character and weapon diversity. There were so many clones in FEW that it didn't feel good to switch between characters to suit the needs of the map.
As a non Fire Emblem fan a lot of the other games I felt the people were chess pieces that I can easily treat as pawns with personality. I don’t like the other Fire Emblem games because it felt like a over glorified Chess game but this one hits different.This one I actually love I felt immersed into this world and story and the people actually have a lot of character depth in every character for me to be attached to them. Far as Fire Emblem games on the Switch this is only one you need. Fire Emblem Three Houses just in case your wondering what game am talking about. 💯
The game is amazing and so engaging and you can skip through a lot if you want to play other routes faster
I'm a little unsure, tbh. I played and adored the first FE Warriors. I didn't mind the underwhelming story because the bulk of the game was the History maps. Seems like this has gotten rid of those and is entirely story based with needing to replay to experience all the routes.
I love the pokemon hint. I am still a bit sad this is a release of fire emblem. I wanted a fire emblem title. As a fire emblem main series. It is a bit sad. I think many here prefer warriors / musou style game, after reading through the comments.
Unfortunately not a big fan of Warriors style gameplay. Would definitely rather have an improved and reworked version of Three Houses with the usual tactic gameplay.

Love this channel and great review. I will be getting this game Day One after playing the demo. Fire Emblem Three Houses with the Warriors formula...heck yeah! I've just gotten into the Warriors/Musou games within the past couple of years and these crossovers continue to rock. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and Persona 5 Strikers were a blast to play.

This is a WARRIORS game so either TIMEY-WHIMEY stuff so we do all sides then 4th path or after each route your previous houses are unlocked from get go. It's a WARRIORS and trailers mention "How many times do I have to defeat you" so seems like you do each house then a 4th path where you unite them so no one kills each other.
Oh, so you cover a musou game, but bail out on covering the Xenoblade Nintendo Direct.

I do hope that there’s a way to play as all characters at once or choose between a rooster of all the houses in the game. The announcement trailer really seemed to tease a side to Three Hopes that mirrored how Age of Calamity was a What If scenario to Breath of the Wild, where it asked what if Hyrule had triumphed against Ganon in the original battle 100 years ago. I want to see this take a turn that separates it from Three Houses where we can see these three young leaders, aka the three hopes of Fodlan’s future, working together against the true enemy, Those Who Slither In The Dark. Other than that, hoping Byleth can become a playable character later on since I believe there’s been footage of Sothis and Rhea being playable so who’s to say that the Silent Demon won’t make an appearance.

I haven't played a musou game since Dynasty Warriors 5 on PS2. I loved that game and I have loved FE since Awakening. So I definitely plan on getting his at some point. I really like the character building and support aspects, so that's why the original series will still be superior.
Spent 13 hours in the Demo to unlock everything, and gotta say was a great time. Looking forward to playing tomorrow. Now at 32 hours. ^_^ still pretty fun.

Why is OmegaForce so good at making Warrior games that other companies own and so bad at making Dynasty and Samurai Warriors? They put so much care into respecting Zelda and Persona but when it comes time to make Dynasty and Samurai Warriors, its just an empty game with a bunch of clones and DLC skins.
Can you recruit members from other houses just like in the original three houses?

9/10 is probably the right score. IGN gave it 8/10 but I feel IGN does not appreciate the game as much. IGN gives 8/10 to most games without major flaws.

Since this is a musou game, will the 3 houses come together at some point? Or will I have to play new saves everytime? I don't want to go throught that marathon I did with the original 3 houses...
I'm very confused on why story was emphasized so much. Nobody cares about the story in a Warriors game. The main complaints were a lack of character and weapon diversity. There were so many clones in FEW that it didn't feel good to switch between characters to suit the needs of the map.
As a non Fire Emblem fan a lot of the other games I felt the people were chess pieces that I can easily treat as pawns with personality. I don’t like the other Fire Emblem games because it felt like a over glorified Chess game but this one hits different.This one I actually love I felt immersed into this world and story and the people actually have a lot of character depth in every character for me to be attached to them. Far as Fire Emblem games on the Switch this is only one you need. Fire Emblem Three Houses just in case your wondering what game am talking about. 💯
The game is amazing and so engaging and you can skip through a lot if you want to play other routes faster
I'm a little unsure, tbh. I played and adored the first FE Warriors. I didn't mind the underwhelming story because the bulk of the game was the History maps. Seems like this has gotten rid of those and is entirely story based with needing to replay to experience all the routes.
I love the pokemon hint. I am still a bit sad this is a release of fire emblem. I wanted a fire emblem title. As a fire emblem main series. It is a bit sad. I think many here prefer warriors / musou style game, after reading through the comments.
Unfortunately not a big fan of Warriors style gameplay. Would definitely rather have an improved and reworked version of Three Houses with the usual tactic gameplay.

Love this channel and great review. I will be getting this game Day One after playing the demo. Fire Emblem Three Houses with the Warriors formula...heck yeah! I've just gotten into the Warriors/Musou games within the past couple of years and these crossovers continue to rock. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity and Persona 5 Strikers were a blast to play.

This is a WARRIORS game so either TIMEY-WHIMEY stuff so we do all sides then 4th path or after each route your previous houses are unlocked from get go. It's a WARRIORS and trailers mention "How many times do I have to defeat you" so seems like you do each house then a 4th path where you unite them so no one kills each other.
Oh, so you cover a musou game, but bail out on covering the Xenoblade Nintendo Direct.
Load me in to the social sim; loved busying myself around Garreg Mach in Three Houses between battles, and I’m hyped to do it again here
