There is another method involving heating up the metal but it is very risky because you risk melting the figure

No there’s an easier way to go this. If you but a small flame from a candle or a lighter that it will get hot enough that the whole metal rod will come out and only takes about 45 seconds to a minute. Easier and faster

You can also use a match on the same ring and the heat will travel through the center melting a little bit of plastic than you can pull the whole thing out and the legs connect in a weird way to the torso

Or you could use a candle. Burn the chain while pulling on the chain it comes out real quick. Though admittedly you will be left with a hole.

If you hold the chain over a flame it will actually melt the plastic on the inside allowing you to take the metal rod out completely and disassemble the whole figure

Do you know how to separate lego commander gree minifig? its pretty hard to do this
