I have the first one and I love it: defo need to pick this up when I can. I’m hoping to get it a bit cheaper than what I found it for as the first one I got for £25. I still need to finish it. I’m about half way I think

Fantastic review, guys! Just to let you know, I beat this game to 100% over on PS4, including every piece of DLC. And, in my experience, Ni No Kuni 2 can take up between 130 to 150 hours, full completion. Also, the DLC introduced additional combat systems which can make the game feel a bit overbearing, but once you learn those they add up to the game.

The first game is on sale in my region. Going to pick it up and go through it before I jump into the second one. Thanks for the review

Support LEVEL-5, or we might never get another game from them in the West...which would be sad.

They needed to release this for ps4. The ps4 already got the game yeah. But this comes with all dlc and updates on the cart. I wanted it all on disk for ps4!

I fully completed this game way back on ps4. Fantastic game. I really hope they are still developing the third one and if they are I hope it comes to the west. With all the sad news about their studio, looks like chances are slim now :/.

Great review! I enjoyed Ni No Kuni 1 on Switch so much that I bought a PS4 to play NNK2. I’m glad it’s finally on switch. Easy recommendation! My main tip is to increase the difficulty from the start, and just lower it if you need to for bosses and such. It’s worth noting that this game basically treats normal as its easy mode.

  TrvisXXIII

I keep going back and forth if I should buy it. Recently did a play through on expert mode and didn’t complete the game, but this has all the DLC which I never bought, and I feel like it would be a lot more convenient playing in bed Edit: one thing I do notice in comparison to the PlayStation version, is that the movement of clothing in the switch footage is less dynamic. It flows only in one direction, whereas in the PlayStation version it blows every which way you move the character. It’s a tiny detail, but noticeable

This game ended up being such a drag towards the end. It just got so boring and the story was laughable at best.

I guess if the frame rate is unlocked it does mean it’ll run well on any future generations of switch without additional work by the game dev. It does feel like every game needs a 30/60/unlocked frame rate option though, it’s so easy to implement.

April 27 2025

  user-dh1un9lk9f

I love this game, but it is NOT worth $60. It regularly goes on sale for under $15 on other systems, and I bet this will go down to less than $30 after a few months.

The boss fight in the third continent is just not playable. The frame rates are so bad that I just couldn’t get past the platforming and had to drop this game sadly.

April 27 2025

  benjaminmartin2922

Why dont you speak of the really low resolution and the aliasing ? its a nightmare for the eyes and for me totally unplayable on my switch lite. I thought the main issue with this game was some frame rate drops on the map. It is not !!! The main issue is the graphics.

I’m loving this game. I prefer action j/rpgs as opposed to turn based and this probably would have gone under the radar if it wasn’t for your channel. Thanks for always coming through with awesome reviews! Cheers!

I am absolutely obsessed with this game! Can anyone else recommend similar switch games? Not just adventure games but ones were there is also a strategic element to it like the kingdom building mechanic and skirmish mechanics… Thanks in advance!

Is it advisable to avoid the DLC equipment if you want any kind of challenge? The DLC stuff in Tales of Vesperia was absolutely ludicrous and game breaking, allowing you to level up about 40 levels right from the beginning!

Having just finished Ni No kuni wrathe of the white witch and feel accomplished that I beaten it (my backlog is enormous) I couldn’t wait to start on Ni No kuni 2. I’ve heard some mixed reviews on it, but I’m about 10 hrs in and I can honestly say that part 2 is far more enjoyable and engaging than the first one. Aside for the frame drop on the world map in handheld mode, im totally loving it.

April 27 2025

Just curious if this ever got a patch to help that frame rate out? Also do you have video of the Switch version of the kingdom building stuff?

Got it myself a day or two ago, and I’m not really satisfied with it really. The controls/animations in combat when attacking seem way slower than they are outside combat. I can’t remember that being an issue on PS4. On top of that, after watching this, there’s some stuff required by the game that I’m not particularly interested in, like the kingdom building. Probably should’ve watch you guy’s review before buying it

  alexepena

Severely disappointed with this game. Outside of the music, it has nothing to do with the original Nino Kuni. Too much emphasis is placed on doing things to complete other things, to finish other things, so then 1/3 of a side quest can be finished. It strays too much from story and game feels tedious many times

April 27 2025

Is this a lot of action in this game?? I’m more of a quest and crafting kind of rpg with a little action
