The ReDOS (Bekaii-Saab) Trial suggests starting with a lower dose and appears to be having a positive impact for some patients. nnTranscript: nSo your doctor just recommended that you take a drug called Stivarga, or also regorafenib, and it's a pill medicine, and there's some controversy or change in how the medicine is being dosed. The standard FDA-approved way based on a clinical trial was to give four pills a day every day, all at the same time, three weeks in a row with one week off. Well, we recognized that that dose for many patients was too spicy. Too many side effects were seen. nnSo a study was done comparing starting low, two pills a day, versus starting high, four pills a day, and seeing the doctor or the team once a week, having your hands checked for toxicity, having your blood test checked for toxicity. If you started at two pills and everything was fine, you could escalate up to three pills, maybe the next week up to four pills, but finding the right dose based on your individual side effects. If we started at four pills, it didn't work as well, so starting low and going high was really a much better way to dose this medicine to get the best benefit for you in the treatment of your colon cancer.
