What is so unique is that Tyrvaya is administered as a nasal spray. It is believed to work through stimulation of the trigeminal parasympathetic pathway (activating the 5th cranial nerve that innervates your nose which also communicates to the 7th cranial nerve that stimulates your lacrimal glands). Used twice a day, clinical studies have shown a significant rise in basal tear film secretion after 4 weeks of use. Thankfully, there are very few side effects from the medication and none are very serious. ⭐Time Stamps 👀 0:00 New Dry Eyes Treatment 1:18 Tyrvaya Pronunciation 1:29 Tyvaya Nasal Spray 1:41 American Academy of Optometry 2:25 Tyrvaya Mechanism of Action 3:50 How Tyrvaya works 4:09 Clinical Study Results 4:41 How to use Tyrvaya 5:57 Tyrvaya Side Effects 7:03 Tyrvaya Cost 7:55 Tyrvaya Review Learn more about Tyrvaya Here: https://www.tyrvaya.com/ 🔔 Subscribe for more free eye health education and tips: http://www.youtube.com/doctoreyehealth ✅ Recommended playlists: Dry Eyes u0026 Dry Eye Treatment: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_6ClIdFb3IYu0026list=PLzi60fSuOmPD0tlkRU2L-wENRdE3Fb9Vju0026index=1u0026t=1s Eyelid Hygiene tips! hi dr, have u seen good results with this. jw on ur experience with patients using this n if it helped them. i get pretty bad dry eyes especially in the morning, i tried tapping my eyes shut to to see if that would help but it didnt do too much. ive had lasik done n honestly regret the procedure. i got glasses again and also have dry eyes. IMO, the surgery isnt as safe as they state it is. had i known what i do know i would not have proceeded with it. i believed it to be both safe and effective so i underwent it. but its been a big regret of mine.

This nasal spray works well for me. You have to use it daily though. My eye immediately went from normal to feeling dry when I stopped using it. Worth the $$ if you can afford it.

Hi Dr. Allen, I just used the Tyrvaya spray while watching your video and I immediately sneezed 10 times in a row. But fine now. I HOPE I followed the directions but I do feel a trickling in the back of throat like with any nose spray. I am worried about it going into my sinuses and hope I did not do that. Lastly - I have severe dry eye for the last 15 years and have gone to the ER about 10 times due to the epithelium of my cornea being ripped off due to my dry eyelids. I am sure we all know that pain - NOTHING alleviates it and you literally shake for 3 days in pain and have to stay in the dark while your cornea heals. Anyway, I am subscribing and happy to find you. Thank you. PS - I have been on Restasis, Xidra and now Cequa and I think they have helped somewhat - at least I have not had to go to the ER in about 3 years...

I have been using Tyrvaya for going on about three months and I can’t imagine living without it it is the first time that I can go without eyedrops all day long I did initially have extreme sneezing but now it is rare that I have that and it is even in the beginning a brief side effect sometimes I will get a terrible taste in the back of my throat that is minor compared to using Restasis that was horrible for tasting that in my throat A long time I only pay $10 a month as I did do the coupon for the med which I just got online. Because it’s so new I hope that there is no damage to the trigeminal nerve by doing this that’s my only kind of a nagging thought but my eyes look better and feel better

Tyrvaya feels like i snorted red fire ants. It makes me dizzy. Lots of immediate sneezing. Side effects last about 5-10 minutes. I used it after using re-nu eyewash & it burned like hell, & caused nausea, runny nose, & dizzyness. My eye dr wont call me back. Thanks for the info.

I tried this, but unfortunately it did not work for me. Not only did it not help with my dry eyes (made them more dry), but it caused problems with my nose and throat. So basically it caused more problems then before I started it.

I should’ve known my fav YouTube eye doc would have a video on this. Been just prescribed this, I’ll have to let you know if it works for me. Earlier this year I’ve been under going treatment for a severe chronic eye condition. Very expensive but I just couldn’t continue to walk around with weepy eyes. They’ve scraped, put some suction cups, given me steroids, and eye drops to use 3xs a day, gel with goggles, along with using a warming mask. It’s a different type of lifestyle I wish I could go without. I am still having problems with left eye, still weepy so she suggested this new drug. I’m in the US and I just paid $115. Yep I sure did forget my coupon, hope I can use it next time. I thank you for sharing on how to use it. Have a great day!

My optometrist tried this on me today, he actually had me hold my breath then blow my nose, bc he said if it got into my throat it would hurt, he also to me to take it once per day, in the am. I didn’t notice a difference right away, but I will try it in the am when my eyes are the worst, I have Sjögren’s Syndrome.

thank u for this video i will ask my eye specialist about it at my appt in 2 wks. dry eye started a month ago where i abruptly wake up during sleep & find my left eye extremely watery/hard to open/sensation of something being in my eye(when nothing is) & it triggers some sinus pressure as well so maybe a nasal spray would help this! (also this dry eye condition makes my vision blurry & im currently on one week of systane balance eye drops & omega 3 supplements waiting for my appt and for clear eyes again!)

This is absolutely a great drug for dry eyes. It is actually the only drug that has worked for me. Restasis did nothing for my dry eyes. Tyrvaya worked within days and continues to give me wonderful relief. The only drawback is the COST….with my insurance,it is costing 450.00 a month. Without my insurance, the cost would be 650.00.

May 02 2025

  emilysmith2111

I just got a sample of it. It’s only my second time using it but I do have some relief to my dry eye almost immediately after spraying it. I don’t believe I have been spraying it correctly until I watched you so that is a factor variable that I need to improve for my application to have the most accurate results. I do sneeze about 10 or so times after spraying and it makes me need to blow my nose and a ton of snot comes out similar to being pepper sprayed and it does burn a little but not super painful. I’ll keep using it and see what happens. FYI I have coronial erosion my dry eye is so bad so I’m really hoping this helps!

I feel a strong connection between sinuses and dry eye. I have a sinus infection that I cannot get to go away and discomfort in my eye. So a nasal spray for the eye makes great sense. However The side effects of verenicline concern me.

Hey, Doc. I have been using Tyrvaya about a week. As a matter of fact I am using samples. I haven’t even gotten my prescription yet. But for me, THIS WORKS !!!! I have autoimmune disease which has caused sjorgens disease, which has caused severe dry eyes. I have been miserable. I use drops, compresses, I have plugs. Still, nothing works. Then, he gave me Tyrvaya. Just 5 minutes after my first use I saw improvement. My eyes are feeling great. So I will have to figure out how to pay for it if it is very expensive. Because I NEED IT.

I go to a dry eye specialist and have tried almost everything to hit the market for dry eyes. Miebo drops and Eyesuvis have helped the most. About 4 days ago, I began Tyrvaya and it has helped a lot. The worst side effect is sneezing 6 times after each dose. I found out today my insurance doesn’t cover it. With a denied letter of preauthorization from your insurance company, you can get the drug for $89/mo. wiith the pharmceutical savings amount that is offered. That still a lot of money but cheaper than having the TearCare and IPL treatment which is $2200 for both.
