Greetings. Because buying such an old machine their equipment is more modern. Of course I prefer these old ones and the sae 200 with a flat-bottomed motor, the one that brings the spark plugs up is recognized and peculiar to me a lot and you can repair it yourself many times. But to visor with a mid mag carbon electrode it will not be useful that way it is very low power to visor and its current is not for mig as with the one I have seen it work with. Thanks for these videos.

My dad used to run one of these for years then they bought him a trailblazer. That Lincoln was amazing for how old and beat up it was.

Damm . Basically just short out the leads on a piece of angled steel. What would failure look like? Would it blow a fuse or a lead

One year the locomotive in the town rail yard had a battery go dead during a power outage so they called the welder and hooked up the leads. The old SA blew some smoke but the train started.

I purchased one of these machine new in April of 77, and I would "NEVER" turn the dial while under a load! I kept my pipe liner for 20 years, ran it every day. The only trouble it ever give was if the magneto got wet, and failed to start. Later models had distributors! A GREAT Machine! Welds better than any thing I have ever used!

Its funny the guys who are most known in welding and are experts on working on sa200 seem to say one thing and other people swear its totally wrong. Im no expert but I dont think people realize what applies to a super stout old machine applies to new technology. Like what might be a bad idea on a tesla is actual a good idea on a 60’s sport car? Idk just a dude who is trying to learn whats the legit way to handle his new to him sa200 and stg you cant find a consensus on anything about these machines

One of the biggest mistakes I made, follow down the road had an SA 200 for sale. Priced very reasonable! I went by and fired it up and tried it out and it worked nice but it had a miss. Dumbass, I popped the distributor cap off and cleaned out the inside scuffed up the end of the rotor pulled a couple of plug wires and cut the ends off them and put them back on voila no more Miss! The price doubled. He ended up renting it out to some Fly by Night wannabes and it disappeared on him. I should have just took my chance gave him his money and run with it.

Very interesting is this a normal checking procedure ? It wont hurt it , turning dial while its ground and stinger connected to make a solid circuit? I been wanting to get one like this but theres so much it seems to learn , about them and to know if your getting scammed on marketplace or not
