My pr must be wrong then cuz I use metal weights so I might be lifting more than what I actually think I’m lifting
April 30 2025
People really like to tel other people what to do even tho they have never done it begore
April 30 2025
People are forgetting that a metal rusting actually adds to the weight so when you remove it, it will be close to the original.
April 30 2025
47lbs? I know the metal weights are inaccurate compared to the rubber ones, but holy fuck that’s a lot. It may not seem like it, but you start off with a 225 squat, and all the sudden it weighs 236 lbs
April 30 2025
Some people are to dumb to know basic chemistry.
Iron oxide (rust) takes the oxygen from the air and combines it with the iron in the plate, making it HEAVIER AS IT RUSTS
April 30 2025
People who say stuff like this don’t understand or realize there is a huge of discrepancy between weights on the average plate. The amount you would come close tk removing while cleaning is pretty much negligible. Unless it’s an Olympic highly calibrated weight.
April 30 2025
how are you gonna be angry about a weight losing weight when it has more weight than it should weigh
April 30 2025
People who have never been to the gym when a dude cleans his plates and they lose 0.5 of an ounce:
April 30 2025
Alr for those who still think its wrong. Add back the 100 grams of material with paint
April 30 2025
Rust is o2 in the air or water combining with types of metal to ADD rust to the metal, that is why the rusted weight is heavier than 45 lbs. He is removing the oxygen from the plate making it closer to the desired weight.
April 30 2025
who was the guy who said he lost FIVE POUNDS from grinding of a bit of rust bro aint no way
April 30 2025
It prolly gained wait cause of the oxygen that bonded to the iron to make the rust(I said iron cause it looked like iron it may be a different metal I’m not sure but same process)
April 30 2025
It wont lose too much though. Alot of cheaper weights are inaccurate, and have more or less weight
April 30 2025
rust is a chemical reaction when the plate reacts with oxygen making it weigh more but when you ckean off the rust it will weigh less
April 30 2025
Literally rust isn’t even that heavy, to think it would make a big difference restoring one is just overthinking it.
April 30 2025
My mother works in the metal production/plastic production business, she did not powder coat metal with spray paint. Just saying.
You couldve sandblasted it at least.
April 30 2025
Yall are wrong about rust
Rust makes the object heavier by *adding* oxigen particles and water on the iron
When you take the rest off, it comes back to the original size and weight
April 30 2025
A rusted plate will be heavier than before it rusted because it gains weight from the oxygen in the air. When the oxygen bonds to the iron it adds weight to the plate
April 30 2025
If anything the rust would make it 46 pounds and when you clean it it goes to 45 because they don’t make them rusty
April 30 2025
It gets heavier the more it oxidises. Due to it having extra oxigen atoms paired with the surface iron
April 30 2025
People are stupid and they don’t know that barely a centimeters of rust is almost nothing
April 30 2025
So what ur telling me is newer weights are pay to win because the old plates weigh more??
April 30 2025
Guys when things get rust on them they’re actually getting heavier. That’s how it works
April 30 2025
When you always use a 45 pound weight then you weigh it and it 47.5 lbs. I am way stronger then I thought I was I will take over the world.
April 30 2025
Why would anyone think it would be substantial enough to matter? It’s clearly grams worth… you can guess an approximation
April 30 2025
One really said that a 45 pound weight now weighs 40 pounds how does a weight lose 5 pounds from just the surface getting cleaned?
April 30 2025
Rust and dirt isn’t the plate itself it’s stuff that builds on the plate so you would barely lose anything
April 30 2025
The reason it ways more is because rust is iron oxide and the oxygen atoms add more weight
April 30 2025
imagine being the goofy ass who thinks he scraped 5 pounds of weight off in rust
April 30 2025
People seem to forget that the week would probably be heavier than it was originally because when something roasts gains weight because of the oxygen combining with the iron
April 30 2025
rustet tjings are heavier because of oxidation which means that electrons are added
April 30 2025
I could be wrong about this, but I remember hearing somewhere that rust is actually slightly heavier than the original material due to oxidation
