I am a 58 yr old Englishman who had upper and lower metal braces fitted for the first time ever on 08/11/23 to fix my worsening deep bite (caused by lower right pre molars and molars tilting in) and mildly lower incisor and canine crowding. I started with 14 NiTi wires and a powerchain on my lower front teeth to help de-rotate my canines. I didn’t have any pain at all (except for my cheeks getting cut up for the first couple of weeks). At my first 4 week adj. appt. my upper wire was increased to 18 NiTi which produced more pressure but no pain. At my 8 week appt. my lower was increased to 16 NiTi and upper to 16/22 but I’m not sure whether that it a NiTi or stainless steel (I wasn’t aware that NiTi wires could be rectangular?). My lower right molars don’t seem to have shifted much yet but my lower fronts have started to level and align and my upper central incisors have proclined slightly which was also needed.
