Thanks for this video....I follow these steps and successfully crimping lan cable

Some years ago, I crimped all my RJ45’s with non pass-through plugs.. that was when my eye sight was a bit better

Great Info. Now why do they have to be in either one of those sequences? Someone once told me, just put soli right next to the same color stripe, do the same on both ends and it will work.. Anyone can clarify this please..

Those strain relief boots suck, get ones that are more like reverse plastic clips that are similar to the ones on the ethernet connector itself. Avoid any of the ones that feel rubbery. They will get hard over time... and even when not hard, they are a huge pain in the butt to deal with.

I really liked the way you explained the whole process. Straight to the point. Thank you.

The solid green keeps refusing to go in. I’ve done over 1000 of these all of a sudden I’m having an issue with the solid green

After watching your video and hearing your amazing voice/accent, I consider my self an RJ45 CRIMP MASTER!

Some of my "dinosaur" work colleagues make fun of me because I use pass through instead of normal ones.
Ok, boomers.

I need to say that I had enormous difficulty with this method: many many attempts to thread the wires all together as shown. Crossed wires, bending wires, or simply refusing to thread at all. My method is to strip 3-4 inches of cable and thread one wire at a time. You can see exactly what’s happening inside the connector and you can take your time check the positioning in the connector, pull a single wire out if it incorrectly placed. Easy peasy!

Step two : learn how to use these tools
Step three : now follow this video

I was finally able to wire my basement for my son’s Xbox after some WiFi lags - found the tools/connectors on amazon cheap, and your video made it very clear - thank you!

Trying to just slide those into each channel just isnt possible man, i had an easier time just shoving. Each individual wire by itself through each channel, your wire colors was spot on tho, did wire it up backwards the first go, but on the second got it right and when i checked the speed its the max my service prov can give

I too been doing it the old fashion way and just bough a kit for pass through. Your video is a great primer. Thanks for sharing.

can you make a VIDEO of RJ45 that does not have the pass through like yours

Is there a way to find out where a long run cable is broken? If its in the middle, can i find out where? Im trying to avoid re-running cable
April 30 2025
How to do that without the big and complex tool? I will not buy an expensive tool just to do 1 time job.

This is a perfect example of how "good" tutorial videos never go "out of style". Very concise. My cable and tools are arriving tomorrow for my NVR system. Thanks! !! !!!

10 years ago I ran hundreds of metres of Cat 5 thru steep bush country to bring 3G down from a mountain top Yagi. I spent hours on my knees fitting RJ45 to each end then testing and repeating. I would have loved the pass thru plugs. Power over ethernet had not been invented.

Yes, the pass through RJ45 connectors makes it super easy and fewer failures. On my intern’s first day I challenged them to make a patch cable that worked on their first try. If they succeeded I would buy them a dinner from Jimmy John’s or equivalent because some just couldn’t eat it.
Story took a twist, or I should say “Untwist” when one of them introduced me to a new tool called “UNTWIST”. That saved my finger from calluses after straightening the wires. I bought one and was able to make a 3’ patch cable in <5 minutes. This is not meant to be a plug for them but that is the second most useful idea since the pass through connectors.
Like this video. What a way to save time trying to explain how it works and how awesome they are. Thanks!!!

Thank you so much for this video. What a detailed information and crystal clear way of doing things in one shot. Very much appreciated.

I bought a pass-thru crimper and RJ45 connectors on aliexpress after watching this video. I have a slightly different take than the content creator. At least for me, this pass-thru tool did not make the process of ordering the wires and inserting them any easier than with a standard crimping tool. The speed of crimping is not reduced. IMO the only benefit is that you can verify the ordering definitively before crimping (and therefore not ruin the connector with bad wiring). This may be clear to others watching this video but it definitely was not to me.

Hey - does this work for a flat ethernet cable or is it completely different? I am trying to find a tool that will strip the jacket off in the same way yours is doing it
April 30 2025
Good, but doing this exercise is enough to drive you to madness. The individual wires have a mind of their own and almost always cross. I simply make the wires longer, thread them through one at a time, and then slide the connector back. So much easier.

Por que el enlace de amazon que sugieres de la ponchadora es diferente y mas cara en precio a la que usas en el video? Dijiste que hibas a poner un enlace de lo que usaste en el video

As someone who’s studying to become a broadband technician, I’ve already memorized the different colors and positions between 568A and 568B to a T!

I had a friend who worked for a little Internet distribution company during highschool for a few hours per day. His main job was to cable in new customers. And if a 16 year boy can do this with no real training, you can too

Excellent video, thanks. Saved me a bunch of time learning the new process (which is definitely more reliable than the old non-pass-through method). Sure, some added expense, but with high quality Cat-6 UV and buriable cable, I will likely be replacing several runs around my house (which is also my home office).

WHAT A LIFE SAVER THANK YOU. all of this might as well been space magic for me before this video

I got a question. I hope you respond being a old video and all. I got a Cable with connectors installed on both sides (Not my work).
The config is from 1-8:
Orange, White/OrangeStripe, Green, White/GreenStripe, Blue, White/BlueStripe, Brown, White/BrownStripe.
This is on both ends. Now when I connect it to the PC it does not work, so I twist the wire around here and there and get it to work but its temporary as the wire slips out and I have no connection. Not a issue on the other side which is the router. So I buy a new PC completely different, and same issue. What do you think about this? I have ordered the complete set of tools for repaire, but I will be doing this for the first time.
April 30 2025
is the crimper tool with the blade on it required for these cat6 plugs? cause the current one i have is a little older and i guess originally ment for cat5e connections, so if i use it for a cat6 plug like the one in your video, will it still fully crimp the connector? i supose i can also cut off the wires manually once it crimps, i just dont want to go out and get a whole new crimper

there are special connectors that convert from a to b and b to a just sayin
