Первая клепка для трердых материалов, вторая для более мягких или хрупуих с распределенным усилием в зоне контакта

Why use a rivet to hold nothing together?
If you have soft material ... put a washer over the first type to spread the clamping force without expanding the hole to failure??
In manufacturing, you would use type 2 to save a very small amount of time as you only need one side access ... (edit for clarity) when rivetting soft materials rather than have to place a washer and make sure it is pulled up tight.

I exclusively use pop rivets because they came with the riveting tool I got on Amazon and have not needed to buy new ones yet.

What are you putting the Rivits into? If you are holding metal plates together, the left one will be better. If you are putting rivits into plastic or wood, the right will be superior.

Actually they are both better than melted cheese - but both inferior to spot welds. So neither and both are and arent better or worse.

i use the regular shank rivets to hold together sheet metal but insulated materials and soft materials having things attached to them work much better with the exploding pop rivets

1st one appears to be more secure. I have rarely used rivets. Just an observation.

A rivet and a peel back rivet.
Rivet for mainly use on thin guage metal.
Peel back rivet can be used metal to plywood or plastic, something weaker than metal, got a better surface area to pull up against

Use the one on the left for anything harder than the rivet and the one on the right for things softer than the rivet.

NUMBER ONE.. NUMBER ONE. NUMBER ONE!!!!
The first one looks like it might be a better hold. Maybe.

The 1/4"split rivets are perfect for repairing and big plastic shed.the screws were ripped out and gone from a tropical storm. New screws are double the price and had nothing left to scew into. The expansion of my split rivets worked perfectly in that situation. The other rivets would fall out if I shut the door

How bout if we install it on a wrong side, can it be easy to loosen that ribet? Even an expert worker make always doing a mistake and drill it back and fix some bad ribet things

The one on the right looks like a little sword
That is why I chose the right one

Metallurgy says that the longer rivet would be weaker, tendency to loosen up under repeated loads - oscillations/vibrations.
April 29 2025
the first one stronger by experience, I am a metallurgist and a long time ago I worked in a firm where we transformed trucks into food trucks, we only used stainless steel rivets which are way stronger then the aluminum one

I use both everyday neither ar better both have there use cases pointless video

I used the one on the left to assemble aluminum housings for 1400 amp movie generators. Neither are coming loose but the one on the left takes up less space.

Took me awhile to find that trifold rivet. (Blackened) Used on a Gen 1 Viper.

Not a fan of either I like a bolt with a nylock nut if u have to use a rivit get the best of there are options I don’t use them so I don’t know
April 29 2025
One on the left is good for metal one on the right is good for plastic

Im currently making a metal model of the bismarck i wonder if this would be a good way to attach the sheets together? I currently dont have a spot welding machine or any welding machine yet so im resorting to other means
April 29 2025
It would be based upon how many rivets used in what material, and end use. Its why we use more glue in airframes. A metal backer strip would add weight and strength to a carbon fiber, fiberglass, or plastic not exposed to flexing.

I riveted a duck tail spoiler on my mustang I used the ones on the left but a little longer. But I did it a couple years back and this winter made them flex an rip out from my trunk

im happy everyone agrees the small fat stubby one is better, i wonder what the woman would choose.
