I contacted the company before I purchased to see if this would work with my camera. I was told it may not work as it is specifically meant to be used with a sound system. I've tried it with both, and it works flawlessly. I will likely use this if I'm doing outdoor filming with my more expensive Canon DSLR (my video is showing it work with my Vixia HF R800). It works perfectly. Sound quality when connected to my phone was pretty good, too. I have been looking forward to doing outdoor filming without all the wires. This is going to be a game changer for me. As I said, it's specifically meant to work with a sound system. While I don't have a BIG system like at a church or school, I do have a karaoke speaker and a guitar amp I connected it to. Worked as expected and sounded perfect coming through the large speakers. Love it! I'm going to recommend my bosses to get for presentations. I'm super happy with this mic. The lapel mic and the mic that go around the head have very similar sound, so I will likely be using the lapel mic in my videos.
