I have a Zojirushi 5 cup Induction Heating + Micom Non-Pressure rice cooker that I bought 12 years ago. I make fantastic Jasmin, White short Japanese rice, Short Brown and Basmati brown rice with it. Even though it still works and looks like new I decided to upgrade to the model in this video. For a week now I have been trying to make Brown rice in it and the results are terrible compared to the Non-Pressurize model. The rice comes out way too mushy, pale and has a humid and bland flavor. In the Non-Pressurize model the rice comes out very fluffy(grains pull apart from each other easily), with good brown color and has a nutty(tastes like almonds and walnuts) delicious flavor. I feel like these new high pressure rice cookers are mostly intended for Short grain white Japanese rice which is intended to be mushy. Yes, they all come with several cooking settings, but the Japanese people I believe stick with Short grain white rice 98% of the time. I will return this one to Amazon and keep us

83 minutes for rice! That’s crazy and stupid

2025-08-22

  @Hillbillyspree

Compare it to the 300 dollar zojirushi rice cooker. I guarantee it is the same. 800 dollars is stupid

Brown rice

2026-02-27

  @11MOD2

Design is laughably poor. Finish, font, display (twinkle twinkle little star WTAF??). Designed by toddlers. Or people still living in the 80’s. Also: 83 minutes??? It’s a joke right?
Clearly one of the best (slowest) cookers out there but design is atrocious. Makes my stomach turn just to look at it which is a slight problem when cooking food.

Was it because of the quality of the rice or the rice machine??

2025-11-21

  @kurtholzmuller2828

yeah......I bought one and am not impressed. I much prefer my Zojirushi 5qt Fuzzy Logic rice cooker. I found iit had too many options and customization features that never seemed to deliver the perfect rice.

I got that expensive model... got it on sell tho... but you were sent it for free...must be nice! I like the version you have because it makes excellent congee!

2025-10-03

  @TyStew90

It has built-in soaking period, cooking period, and steaming period for the best tasting rice. But also, this is brown rice which takes longer to cook than white rice.

Zojirushi also has a "quick" setting where it skips the soak period and cooks MUCH faster. Probably like 45-50 min for brown.

2026-03-14

  @stevenchua7386

Omg 83 mins to cook brown rice?! That’s way too long dude. Check out Tiger brand, the r cooking time is much much shorter.

Now do the Zojirushi NX-AB10.

Can you test cuckoo rice cooker VS NWjec 10 too? and NWjec 10 vs Zojirushi Induction Heating (IH) rice cookers ?

Btw you need to cook strove top rice with a bit of oil, it could be amazing cooking in the right temperature and right cooking time and resting time.

2026-02-04

  @miscstuff7824

lol, Zojirushi is gatekeeping flagship rice cookers.

I get that the rice cooker market isn't big in the US, but this is a 5 year old midrange model that's gone through 4 model revisions since launch and sells new currently for $280 in the homeland.

Kinda absurd they can get away with highway robbery pricing...

2025-08-30

  @chinaski1920

But wasn't the brown rice in the cheaper NS-ZCC10 fluffier, juicier and softer? To me the result in the NW-JEC10 looks a little bit dry. Is it possible to get the same result with the NS-ZCC10 as with the NW-JEC10 by pouring less water? And the same result with the NW-JEC10 as with the NS-ZCC10 by pouring a bit more water?

In my pressure cooker just 12 minutes. I don’t use advanced cooker just like this

2025-11-07

  @markpeterkin6161

Well of course you will rate this cooker #1 as it was sponsored. People please do not fall into this BS, there are countless inexpensive rice cookers that cook just as well if not better. Sponsored videos are just dumb as they will rave about the product cause they are being paid.

2025-09-25

  @mrjsutphenEDU

I understand that mindset but many people would say the same thing about a $300 rice cooker compared to a $20 rice cooker.

People who pay more for their devices want to reach the peak of flavor or just want to seem fancy and buy an expensive product.

If I know Zojirushi, they created this rice cooker for the former. They think there's a peak they haven't yet reached.

In the United States, if a machine makes something similar but takes much longer to do so, it's a downgrade. I'd say this product isn't worth it simply because older zojiroshi machines already produce phenomenal rice in less time.

2026-01-31

  @Fortis_1337

The cooking start & complete chimes are typical of their products. My Zoji airpot also does this once it's done boiling water.
