Thanks so much for sharing! I also prefer to squeeze the gouache into pans and let it dry because it is easier for me to control the amount of paint on my brush this way, as opposed to wet paint from the tube. I tried using umton wet but got a lot of sticky binder without the actual paint. Maybe squeezing it out would help too. I don’t have access (or budget) for holbein or windsor and newton, and i am no professional, so i use talens brands. The extra fine is my “fancy paint” and the art creation is cheap, stinky and kinda chalky but it’s actually my most favourite paint

Such a great video! I love this! I also use gouache (both acrylic and traditional gouache), but I love how you squeeze your water-based gouache into palettes. Thank you for sharing! Also, I love that chartreuse color so much! Did you mix it yourself or did you buy a tube of it? Either way, beautiful color!

I put the paint in all at once too-my first and last time so far because I opened my palette 2 weeks later and 90% of my paints turned to mold. I didn’t know what I did wrong so I’m so glad I came across your video!!!!

I have one question about your travel pallete. How you stuck your paint in the box? Did you use a kind of glue or something else? I want to do similat pallete from metal box.

Thank you for this video! I love your style and it is so fun to hear your thoughts about colors:) Are you btw using the Art Talens sketchbook? :) I find it wrinkles a lot, but I really like it though. Love that it is so cheep that I dont get to picky with what I make. Expensive sketchbooks dont work for me

This was such a great video, just what I needed. I love the Holbein colours too but because there are so many beautiful colours I struggle to create a cohesive palette. I like how you do it and will practise!

Do all W&N colours rewet easily when dried? I find Primary Red and Alizarin Crimson don’t rewet and are not pigmented when they are dried

This video is utterly delightful, thank you!! I am Swedish and have been dragged out into the Swedish mountains and I have to say if your illustrations had been on a föyer I would have been so much more motivated to go into these beautiful mountains! You should contact the STF ( Svenska turistföreningen) or the Swedish Tourist board and show your illustrations, they are lovely and really makes people want to go to the places you depict! I am sad we cannot get Holbein gouache here, I have to send for them from Britain and that is so expensive now after Brexit. But Schmincke and W&N are really no bad alterntive for pure colours but I miss the interseting shade I have seen in Holbein. I do hope you will make more videos, I follow some but there is always place for a good gouache video channel! Thank again for the amazing inspiration and for showing that a good artist can use any material and make it look good ( I dislike the Talens to paint in but you showed it can work really well when in expert hands! )I have to try more and work harder!

6:11 Hi Magda. The red outline seen here - is that a base layer or do you add it afterwards? If it’s a base layer how do you cover it so well with the other gouache? Do you have trouble with it reactivating? What shade red is it? Thank you!

Hullo Magda, I am 63 years old and I have been painting with watercolors for 53 years. I painted with Turners Design Gouache at a design firm when I left college. I have seen some amazing paintings online and the different mixes of mediums! I have tried several brands of gouache, Schmincke has some most amazing art products! I like their Akedemy gouache, but it does cost a lot! The Hordam gouache is even more costly! I have found ShinHan from Korea to be very good paints at a reasonable price. I have a good selection of W&N gouache, and it is fine, but not Holbein because if I was going to spend that much on gouache I would just buy more Schmincke. I have purchased some Royal Talens gouache, but have not gotten around to trying it out yet! Everything seems to take longer to tryout these days! Thanks for this interesting video, I had forgotten about drying the gouache in small layers, so I will be doing this moving forward with my testing! Please take care, be safe and have a lovely day!
