Pedro I.

What’s interesting with this election is that Clay got more votes than Crawford, popular vote wise, but failed to get more electoral votes than him. Had clay gotten 3rd place, he most likely would’ve won this election

Clay should had won and had not Poor white men that didn’t owned land were eligible to vote along with Clay not creating the Whig Party to split the vote between the three way race of Adams, Jackson, Crawford resulting in Clay winning in a landslide.

Keep in mind that Pres. Jackson lived to be 77 years old... * in the 19th century * after surviving smallpox * with a bullet lodged in his chest

Its interesting to see how the voter turn out went from 1.5ish percent to 25ish percent since the new law for all white men to vote and because of there actually being some contest instead of voting for the most popular democratic republican.

The idea that Clay worked with Adams to make Adams President in exchange for being secretary is a false conspiracy theory. There was no "corrupt bargain."

0:49 Fun fact: Daniel Tompkins was the only Vice President from the 19th century to serve two full terms under one president. In fact, only nine Vice Presidents (Adams, Tompkins, Marshall, Garner, Nixon, Bush, Gore, Cheney and Biden) have served two full terms under one president.

JQA was arguably the best POTUS so far--including his calling for both a national university and a national astronomical observatory. Andrew Jackson was one of the worst among the sorry lot of POTUSes--some American Indians even refuse to handle the US $20 with his vile portrait on it.

April 21 2025

4
  georgekenney8121

i am very worried if the election is close then it may be thrown into the House of representatives, they will have to decide who win Donald Trump or Vice President Kamala Harris just like what happen 200 years ago in the Election of 1824, but Jackson Andrew did not win because he would not make henry clay Secretary of state t was John Quincy Adams President so in return for this favor he made Henry Clay secretary of State so you see Donald Trump would love to have it throw into the House which the republicans control they would put him into the White House but for me and the American People would not like the Election decide that way by a Bunch of mega republicans we would be very angry at them and also at Donald Trump for which i will never bow down to him,

The so-called "Corrupt Bargain" was hardly corrupt at all. This is how majorities are formed in most of the world. The Adams-Clay coalition would have made up more electoral votes and more of the popular vote than Jackson anyway.
