Every week it seems that there’s a new commercial add selling an unheard of drug for this ailment or that where they tell you to “ask your doctor”.
Your doctor probably hasn’t even heard of this drug unless the pharmaceutical rep has shown up selling his or her wares.
All those in the commercial are often older aged people who are laughing and playing with their grandchildren or with their wife or friends at the same time they tell you about the multitude of possible side effects.
Can cause this or that and aren’t something you’d want to experience.
Some cause death.
Yet they are always happy and smiling.
Think about it people.
You’re being manipulated by payed actors.

I heard this about this antibiotic about 20 years ago and chose not to take it. Why is it still being used haphazardly, does it pay more $ ? I believe I remember a problem in muscles and or joints. Several doctors have prescribed Cipro... since I had several UTI’s. Before I take any new drug anymore I read the label. One point I would like to mention is that doctors are not pharmacists and do not have thorough knowledge of medicine and it consequences. One dr put me on a anticonvulsive med for weight loss and it proceeded to make me “goofy” and could not think straight. Consult your pharmacist before adding a drug to your list.

It always amazes ME that pharmacy/doctors want to control and determine when and IF I need an antibiotic for a sinus infection/chronic cough/etc. To think a male doctor would tell a single mom to "wait it out" when you have been miserable for a week already (one kid sick the week before and the other will be the week after)...I gotta work and be both parents but you want to say AN ANTIBIOTIC OVERUSE WILL CREATE A SITUATION WHERE IT WONT WORK LATER, you mean when I am old and all I have is time to take care if myself? Cipro really messed me up once. I was lucky my side effects went away after a few months but it was brutal it felt like my brain was swelling, made my nerves feel like stuff was creeping and moving up and down all thru my body. Gave me major gut issues while taking it as well.

I was precribed this med yesterday, 100mg twice a day. About 3 hours later I experienced fever and severe headache. on the following day I also experienced joint pain, body ache. Waiting to talk w/ my Dr. to decide whether I can stop or need to continue. on the bright side my need to urinate or burning sensation is almost gone since starting taking it. The adverse effects I feel are awful though.

I was on Cipro for only one day for a UTI when I experienced numbness in my legs. I Googled it and as a 78 yr old I was suseptible to long term damage. I was lucky to stop taking it before it was too late.

I was prescribed Levaquin by an ED for a UTI. They gave me the first pill at discharge and never mentioned the name of the drug or any warnings. I was stupid for not asking, but was so relieved to be leaving. They knew I was taking low doses of an SSRI and anti anxiety. Within 6 hours I was alarmingly depressed. After nightmares and little sleep, I looked up the drug the next morning and was amazed they gave me this drug and never said a word about Black Box warning of side effects of depression and suicide for patients taking my regular medications. I called the ED and they were annoyed I was questioning. I convinced them to change the antibiotic, but they said it would not work for my infection. Next day I called a urologist and he said they were wrong. One week later after taking doxycycline my urine test was free of infection.
20 years ago I was constantly prescribed Cipro for allergy caused sinus infections. All I remember is praying for a course to be over due to the severe headaches it caused. I now have chronic tendon issues, surgery was necessary to repair detachment in my hip. These medications are dangerous and should only be used as a last resort in hospitals in situations where no other antibiotic has worked. You must advocate for yourself.
