Ficha Técnica e Modo de uso:

Informações do Produto: :Anecdotally, many men taking finasteride report improvements to side effects by simply lowering their daily dosage from 1mg to 0.2mg. The rationale? Finasteride has a logarithmic, dose-dependent response curve for DHT reduction. In other words, a tiny amount of the drug can reduce DHT by nearly the same amount as a mega-dose of the drug. Knowing this, many men will cut their 1mg tablets into quarters. The goal: to reduce their overall drug exposure (to lower side effect risk)... but still get the same DHT reduction (to not sacrifice the drug's efficacy). Personally, I've always been puzzled by this. After all, if a little bit of finasteride reduces nearly the same amount of DHT as a larger dose of finasteride, then why would micro-dosing finasteride confer a better (anecdotal) side effect profile? Technically, both doses reduces (roughly) the same amount of DHT. If we take these anecdotes to be true, then I believe we might be able to partly explain them through psychosomatic phenomena – and particularly, the nocebo effect. In one study of finasteride users, researchers split patients into two groups. In group one, physicians warned their patients about the risk of side effects from finasteride. In group two, physicians said nothing. During the study, patients warned about the side effects of finasteride were nearly 500% more likely to report side effects than those who weren't told anything! What does that tell us? That finasteride's side effect profile might be partially influenced by our expectation of side effects. In my eyes, people might be using this phenomena to their advantage through drug titration. By believing you're reducing your risk of side effects by going from 1mg to 0.25mg, this mindset may very well make you feel a lot better about taking the medication... and thereby improve your tolerability to finasteride (and your hair loss outcomes)! It goes without saying that when it comes to treating androgenic alopecia, finasteride is the best-studied (and most effective) drug on the planet. Randomized, double-blinded, placebo-controlled studies on thousands of men demonstrate an 80-90% response and a 10-20% increase in hair counts / density over two years. So, for those seeking treatment, it's paramount to find ways to improve the tolerability of this drug. At the same time, finasteride side effects do happen. Not everyone can tolerate this drug, and not everyone can avoid side effects through titration. But if you're apprehensive about starting finasteride, one strategy might be to start with a lower dose and see how you feel! I personally believe that the side effects from finasteride can be reduced by simply maintaining a healthy weight or losing fat. As getting fatter will increase the rate at which testosterone becomes estrogen and since you don’t have that extra androgenic activity from DHT as it’s slashed by more then half by finasteride you will get side effects. This is an anecdote by I think it supports my theory well. When I initially started finasteride I was 165 and I stayed at that weight for 5 months, during that time I experienced no sides but due to some events in my life I ballooned up to 205, (which took 3 months to get too) But during that time in which I gained all this weight I noticed my eye brows got sparser, my beard lost considerable density and I was more depressed then ever. So eventually I got on a weight loss regiment and every time I lost 5 pounds my beard, my eyebrows got denser and my mood improved. I’m now at 178 lbs and my beard is considerably more dense as well as my eyebrows I hope that once i get down to 165 I will recover all my beard and eyebrows hairs that I lost. But only time will tell.

I think the risk of side effects is not a trivial matter, as some can be quite severe. I took Saw Palmetto, which is nowhere near as potent as Finasteride, and experienced terrible side effects. Joint pain, fatigue, decreased libido, brain fog, anxiety, testicle pain, many others. I had normal hormone levels before taking it, and now they are imbalanced. There is no way to predict whether you will develop Post Androgen Deprivation Syndrome. I believe the cause is a disruption of the endocrine system initiated by autoimmunity, which in turn is caused by something known as molecular mimicry. This likely happened as a result of structural alterations to molecular units of the 5-AR enzyme, because these DHT blockers are affecting the natural conversion process of these hormones through a chemical reaction that is unnatural. I am 23 by the way. These androgens are likely not evolutionary vestiges that we can simply do away with, and they are not just a nuisance that causes hair loss. Since then I have been addressing the other factors of hair loss that do not involve inhibiting 5-alpha-reductase.

Hey - could you link to the study / source that features the logarithmic DHT response bar plot shown in this video? Cheers

"The only reason..." is a surprisingly disappointing statement from someone otherwise so objective in general. Possible reasons abound, including the possibility that neurosteroid production is maybe less affected at lower doses of finasteride. Some meta-analyses have also shown less side effects from 1 mg/day than 5 mg/day.

0.2mg lowers it around 55% not 69%, and 1mg lowers it to around 65%....5mg can go up to 70%

Been in fin for +20y now. No sides. Went down after 6y to 0.5mg and (just to save money when I heard about it) felt no difference and it seems ti work fine. Have had a little loss but not much. Hard to say if keeping to 1mg would have saved more hair.

Hello Rob , do you think that taking 0.5 mg or 0.2 mg mg instead of 1 mg in Oral Finansteride causes fewer side effects or is it the same in terms of side effects?

Been on it coming up to 2 years now. Started early. I was a norewood 2.5 but steadily thinning to a 3. In the last 1.5 years I’ve regrown almost all my hair back and most people say to wait 2-3 years before analyzing results. My guess is in the next year, I’ll have my juvenile hairline back, which was a norewood 0

The problem with this drug is that people can find comfort in both sides. There are enough horror stories on the internet that would make the average person not even touch it, I mean, it’s suppressing a natural male sex hormone. On the other side, there are lots of testimonies of it working and people having no side effects, granted, sometimes I think it’s denial. I think some people take it and get terrible side effects so they want others to bite the bullet so they can suffer too with them and find comfort.

I’m 3 months into topical finasteride and I’m starting to see hair follicles being grown, I’m happy I chose the topical route. I have high anxiety and the dermatologist tried getting me on the oral version, but i declined because of the side affects. He said the side effects were reversible but I’ve heard so many horror stories of it not being. With my anxiety however, taking the oral route I probably would have tricked myself into thinking I was experiencing side effects.

The study conclusion is flawed. If you tel someone about the risks they are more likely to look for subtle changes. For instance, if finasteride causes very slight mammary gland growth, only those who are looking for that will notice. If finasteride caused very slight loss of libido or sensation, only those who know to look for that wouldn’t chalk it up to a bad day or not notice. You should add this to your conclusion. I believe side effects of his drug are severely underreported. Most men aren’t in shape enough to notice slight gyno, and don’t have sex enough to notice slight loss of performance.

I think people become hyper aware of their health (sexual function, mental health, where they store body fat, etc) after taking finasteride, and since they’re looking so hard for something (like ED), they find it.
