Hi Dr. I have been taking 17beta-estradiol 0.06% gel one pump and 100mg prometrium everyday, but lately I am having a little hot flashes etc, can I increase my dose to 2 pumps, if so do i have to increase the prometrium as well, or would I be OK with 100mg? Please help

I appreciate you going over how hormone levels change with age naturally in different videos, but I have this lingering question. How does being on hormonal birth control affect all these things? Does it suspend your aging? Does your body stop producing its own hormones in rhythm? Do women on birth control still go through perimenopause? Does long term birth control usage delay menopause or speed it up? Thank you for your concise, helpful explanations!

So what the heck do women in perimenopause do?! We get very low estradiol and have all of those symptoms - we need sine kind of continuing estradiol to keep it even - and so what if it gets too high - I’d rather that than suffer with the symptoms - no one will give me estradiol and I think I need it - I’m so frustrated

Hi, I suffered through perimenopause severe symptoms) now in menopause started with estradiol patch 25, did nothing really, 50 was wonderful, I could sleep again and feeling myself, but after a few months, I started getting hot flashes and brain fog again and very tender breasts, moved to 75, tenderness gone for the most part but after a few months I am getting random hot flashes, brain fog (like memory blanks) and other symptoms again… should I move to 100?

I had horrible abdominal cramping and bloating while on the estradiol patch. What are the alternatives that are not likely to cause GI symptoms? Hot flashes and night sweats are really bothersome and ruin my sleep.

My estradiol was very low. 1mg of gel was not working for me. The doctor started giving me 1mg patches witch seem to be too strong. My hot flashes stopped, I still have brain fog. My doctor is new to this and doesn’t have experience. From Doing research I’m hearing that patches are stronger than cream and gel, therefore you don’t need as much. Is this true?

I live in Canada./and my recent estradiol lab was 164 pmol/l. I am 51, no uterus so cannot track by cycle if in menopause. Does that number indicate menopause? I see your measurement in pg/ml. So i am confused?

I just had mine tested last week. 83 estradiol, 3 progesterone, FSH 15.5. This was after taking off the patch and stopping progesterone because I felt very PMS-y on them. I feel ok right now but we’ll see. I’m 49 and have ovaries but not a uterus. I emailed you to find a specialist in my area, but haven’t heard back

What about a man (55) with almost zero estradiol? I have a natural Total Test of 876 but <10 estradiol. My symptoms are the same as someone with low T. Doctor but me on TRT thinking some would convert into estrogen but I ended up with hot flushes and blood pressure of 184/85. I workout most days and fitter than most teenages but always struggled to gain muscle

I’m in post menopause and got on the E patch two years ago. I’m now on the .075 E patch and my level is 69. I’m really trying to get it closer to 100. Hopefully by going up to the highest dosage patch I will get close to the 100 level or at least 75.

Hello Steve, I’m in Perimenopause. Yesterday, I was informed that my Estradiol is 500 pg but it should be around 50 pg. Is that dangerously high and require balancing out with medication or does Estradiol fluctuate a lot like Progesterone? My Estrogen is 951 so is that too high? My Progesterone is only 0.2 and I was told it should be somewhere in the range of 15 to 30? Unfortunately, I can’t seem to lose weight even though most of my adult life I was slim with a lot of running and avoiding bread, rice and pasta. I still avoid those foods and I don’t eat sugar but due to injuries I can no longer run. If I take medication to lower my Estradiol and increase my Progesterone, will I finally be able to lose weight? When during my cycle should I be having these hormonal blood tests for Estradiol, Estrogen, and Progesterone? Thank you.

I was RX Estradiol 1 mg because my insurance wouldnt approve the combi patch, I am terrified to take it but feel a bit better but was curious as to why I only was rx the estridiol when my testosterone levels was insufficient as well?

Serum testing is useless. I’m sorry, but you need to go off symptoms. My results were “normal” but I still had hot flashes, depression, low energy and I hated my husband and my life. Increased my estradiol and now feel great (with zero “high estradiol” side effects), but I’m “out of range”. Thank god I have a menopause specialist who didn’t try to convince me that “normal” was the end goal.

well i m in perimenopause and have pco syndrome i was loosing hair and couldnts sleep i m almost 45 and my doctor gave me a patch estradiol 0.50 mcg saying dont go above that because it will suppress the ovulations i still have . i take cyclical micronized progesterone from day 15 and my cycle returned to 30 days .. so above 0,50 mcg of estradiol you supprees ovulation ? so it works like birth control i dont get that

Hi Steve, I have watched a lot of your videos. Do you have a video that details how to assess ovulation issues in perimenopause? I am on HRT but still sufffer from anxiety and SEVERE insomnia every month at ovulation (cycle days 13-16), along with mood swings. I literally do lot sleep for a couple days. I’ve been toying with my dosages but when I go up, I sleep better but get breast tenderness. It doesn’t make any sense to me if it’s helping one thing but making another thing worse. I do not have heavy periods only weight gain around my middle and thighs.

My FSH is 0.6
And I’m taking a birth control pill continuously (skipping the placebo pill) this pill contains desogestrel and ethinyl estradiol tablets USP 0.15 mg/0.02 mg and ethinyl estradiol USP 0.01 mg.
