Metronidazole is an antibiotic that treats bacterial vaginosis. Este medicamento está indicado no tratamento de giardíase (infecção do intestino delgado causada pelo protozoário flagelado, Giardia lamblia), amebíase (infecção causada por qualquer uma de várias amebas), tricomoníase (infecções produzidas por várias espécies de Tricomonas), vaginites (inflamação na vagina) por Gardnerella vaginalis e infecções causadas por bactérias anaeróbias (que crescem na presença de baixas concentrações de oxigênio ou até mesmo na sua ausência) como Bacteroides fragilis e outros bacteroides, Fusobacterium sp, Clostridium sp, Eubacterium sp e cocos anaeróbios.

Neo Metrodazol® é um anti-infeccioso que apresenta atividade antimicrobiana, que abrange exclusivamente microrganismos anaeróbios, e atividade antiparasitária.
A absorção máxima ocorre entre 1 a 2 horas.
