there is a bit of confusion here. In Poland the official diagnosis of dyslexia can be made only after completing grade 3, which is usually at the age of 10. What happens earlier is only "risk assessment". The ignorance on the subject is monumental. I hope we agree that coercive therapy will do more harm than good. When a kid is truly unhappy, we know things go off rails. I like the approach of democratic schools that make no fuss about delays. Waiting is a winning game! :)

ah, we have a new great phenomenon in Poland called School in the Cloud (Szkola w Chmurze). 40,000 students today! It is a school of love and tolerance. I personally know cases where kids with an official diagnosis of dyslexia magically recovered within 3-4 years with no leftovers! It shows how skewed the diagnostic "science" is. To be sure, at least one girl had a second battery of diagnostic tests done, and a few years after the official diagnosis of dyslexia has been officially cleared as "within norm". This gave me a personal touch of case studies collected by Peter Gray in reference to unschoolers.
